Thailand 24 hour enduro kart race (part 1)

Just to give you an idea of how unprepared i was for this Thailand trip, i had no ticket 3 days prior to leaving!!

The good thing was once I decided to finally go, I got into my girl scout mode and started preparing like crazy. I talked to everybody who's ever been to Thailand, searched for things to do and places to go on the Net... you get the picture...

JUNE 29, Thursday
So finally i get my ticket a day before i fly out, passport (check), money (check), credit card (check), mobile phone roaming service activated (check), clothes (check)... okay all set.

JUNE 30, Friday
It was just a 3 hour flight but the clincher was taking a 2 hour car ride to Pattaya straight from the airport. Arrived in the Bangkok Don Muang Airport at 7pm. OKay they did not give Arrival cards in the plane. Spent a good 10 minutes looking for a friendly Airport Info Person who could give me an Arrival Card before heading to Immigration which took sooooo long.

Finally, coming out of the airport, 1 more thing left to do, look for the taxi guy holding a sign with my name on it. Great, there are NONE in sight. THANK YOU GLOBE since i then called A to ask where the hell was the taxi he chartered. Apparently the taxi is in another part of the airport. Feeling a bit grumpy now. Finally i see my name, say hello to Taxi Guy and I'm off to Pattaya.

So feeling a bit happier since i don't feel as lost anymore, i become a bit chatty with Taxi Guy who understands a little English but gets the picture when I talk in ENglish + hand signals. And so I ask him where I can find boxing gloves (the only thing I want to get in Bangkok), where the good food is in Pattaya and stuff like that. And then he figures "ahhh, nice tourist, maybe i can fool her into lending me her mobile (insert evil laugh here)" SO he then tells me that his mobile phone has no battery and CAN HE BORROW MY MOBILE TO CALL HIS FRIEND!?!?
Little does he know that 2 can play this game. i just say "HUH? WHY? I DONT UNDERSTAND? IM SURE HE KNOWS WERE GOING TO PATTAYA" and then get my Ipod and proceed to zone out on music for the rest of the 2 hours. HAHA im not a dumb tourist after all heehee

we won! we won!

i just came from a 24 hour enduro go-kart race in thailand! and it was a success...

the philippine team, composed of amateur and professional drivers WON 2ND place! and it was great to be a part of the whole thing. of course i mainly went to support D, AND because i've never been to thailand hehe so might as well hit two birds with one stone right? i was officially a pit girl and den mother basically, you know, shopping for supplies, fixing home base, sometimes manning the radios, medic to injured members, flashing info to drivers... get the picture? but it was a helluva experience and so many stories to tell... dont know where to start haha

badminton rocks!

just finished a really good game of badminton today. i love playing this game! given the choice of playing badminton or the gym, in a heartbeat id play badminton.

why?

... because its fun and i get to exercise and not feel like a trapped hamster on a treadmill
... i get to play with different people
... its challenging especially since you dont know how good your opponent is
... i get to play with D, and playing sports is one way we get to "bond"
... i really feel like im losing weight hahaha

dealing with wild things

there comes a time when you encounter WILD THINGS, which surprise you precisely because they are WILD and un-tameable.

but, that's the allure of it. you try and try to create a connection with the wild things in life, until they dont seem as scary, till they don't seem so wild after all.

there are people who are wild things in our lives, who come and shake up our routine, making us rethink the way things are done and how we handle them..


ultimately, i think it is great to have a chance to deal with these WILD THINGS.

it keeps you on your toes and life is not the same after every encounter.

here's to mowgli. will say a prayer for you everyday. =)

why i love my job

just started working again recently, and call me odd but i love what i do.

love work?! you must think im crazy.

but i really do. working with kids makes life seem so simple and uncomplicated. call me cheesy but remember the robert fulghum book on things i learned in kindergarten? i think they're all TRUE.

the lakehouse

i haven't blogged in ages.... as you know, life happens...

moving along now...

just watched the movie "the lakehouse" starring keanu reeves and sandra bullock and i liked it. WHY?

1. it made me think, trying to tie up the loose ends on when they met and how things in their future changed, which upto today i haven't reached a conclusion as to how it all really happened.

2. its a remake of an old korean movie called "il mare" which ended tragically, so happily this didnt.

3. i like keanu reeves !
