Must Be Mom's: The Best Ensaimada

Just came from Pricemart at the Fort which just recently opened (more about the newly opened Pricemart in another entry) and found this stall right outside it, as you walk from the indoor parking lot going to the entrance.

They sell ensaimada (either topped with your standard quick melt cheese OR topped with queso de bola) and also cheese rolls, which I am a sucker for (anything with cheese, yes, I will willingly eat).

Good thing I decided not to brush it off and keep on walking (as I am a loyal Mary Grace ensaimada and cheese roll fan) and decided to taste their samples. Sorry Mary Grace, but I am now a convert. Must Be Mom's is now on top of my list for best ensaimada. I tried both the quickmelt version and the queso de bola version, and must say the latter is waaay better.

Their ensaimada comes in the standard size and the bite sized bunches which we decided on buying. (Php 100 for the quickmelt version, Php 150 for the queso de bola version).

This picture is the result after less than an hour of purchase (only 3 pcs left out of around 20) Preggy sister finished off around 8 pcs, Mother finished 7, and I finished 2, pausing long enough to eat the last 3 shown here haha.

I like it because:

1. It's very soft!

2. It's just on the right side of light and airy

3. It's sticky-moist, not at all sticky-compact heavy or dough-y

3. It's impossible to eat just one piece (plus match it with hot chocolate---ayyy heaven!)

GOODBYE Mary Grace, it was good while it lasted haha.

Also got a box of cheese rolls which I have yet to taste.....

The Kamias Tree

last sunday i was awakened by Muling, our ever reliable helper, since the car needed to be moved to make way for a truck. as soon as i got out, i saw the DES or Department of Environmental Services guys all ready to trim our kamias tree!

it was time for a haircut apparently so they gave the kamias tree a buzz cut so as not to bother the electric lines...

they were pretty efficient and courteous, and they even asked me how short i wanted the branches cut and all i said was "as long as it doesnt die, then cut away!"

Chevy

about two years ago, a dog named chevy was so bored with his life that he decided to chew on car covers and make marks on a shiny red car...

and thus he ended up with me as he was declared doggie non-grata and was whisked off to our house in bulacan...which i rarely go to... which means i havent seen this dog in that long. so last nov 1 when we did go home to bulacan, i finally saw chevy again! and he is huge! aliw! but still cute. and more gentle now. lost his puppy fat but is still as strong, i mean he can still pull his weight around. and he still remembers me!!! *smile

WHY grad school is stressful

why is grad school stressful?

because...

it's a choice made by entirely YOU to go back to school so there is more pressure to succeed (giving up is such a cop out! sayang diba?)

AND

you have to balance it on top of everything else...family, friends, work (in no particular order)

sigh. feeling more like a worker bee each day.

! REACH FOR THE STARS !

I started this blog months ago to write about things I like, and in no particular order, my top 4 are food, travel, people, and sports.

My entries can be a mix and match of all four, so hope you do enjoy!
